Norfolk Riverfront Cleanup--North Fork River Below Mill Dam
Over 100 community volunteers come out for the Norfolk Riverfront Cleanup event, helping to remove trash an volunteer trees below the North Fork River Mill Dam area near Johnson Park. There were numerous donations made by area businesses, Fisher Tree Service, NPPD Wood Chipper Team, Waste Connections with their Rollon/Rolloff units, Hy-Vee, Lou's Thrifty Way, Affiliated Foods, Burger King, Hiland Roberts, Keep Norfolk Beautiful, Dinkel Implement, Green Fiber. Norfolk Tree board member came out, Garrett Fischer and Dick Wozniak, a large Coka-a-Cola team, CCDS the Zone kids, K-Kids from Sacred Heart School, Northeast Nebraska Community College students, NorthFork Riverfront Development Board, Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce Green Council.

Well over 400 volunteer hours spent to spruce up a natural resource that has great potential for Norfolk's future economic development and community's quality of life.

- Good job! It was a well organized day. We (The Zone group) all were glad we participated. I like the idea of the fun activities with the comedy festival and to do another clean-up in the fall. Thanks for all you hard work. JP

- Just wanted to give you some kudos for spearheading this effort - it was a great event and I think really highlighted how "politicalized" entities can work together - it seems that more and more I see that we really are working to the same goals, based on the same beliefs - ie city, chamber, riverwalk all working to make our community a better place - but getting lost on the small stuff. You just made them focus on the big stuff - good for you!!! Hope any of that made sense. I just appreciate you helping the community move forward. JA
